After the phenomenal success
of 2005's sold out Alceste, Opera Boston again teams with Martin
Pearlman and Boston Baroque to stage Handel's "secular oratorio" about
a young woman desperate for immortality and Jupiter's love -- at any cost.
William Congreve wrote the witty libretto, which also bears the mock-heroic
stamp of later contributor Alexander Pope. Sung in English with projected
surtitles. |
