Rigoletto is
Verdi’s great tragedy of profound majesty and visceral strength.
Careless flirtations by the
womanizing Duke of Mantua and the actions of his vengeful court jester
Rigoletto play out against a backdrop of seduction, betrayal, curses and
vendettas, ending in the tragic death of Rigoletto's innocent daughter
Gilda at the hands of a paid assassin. Historical
notes.
Vytautas Juozapaitis
sings the role of Rigoletto. Boston opera lovers will remember
this magnificent Lithuanian baritone from his role as Don Giovanni in September,
2003. And the extraordinary soprano Larissa Yudina, who was
praised by Boston critics for her 2006 Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor
and Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute, returns as Gilda. More

The opera contains the famous
arias "Caro nome," "La donna e mobile," "Questo quella," and the well known
