GOLF: THE MUSICAL
Eric Krebs,  producer of Golf: The Musical, announced May 31 that he has decided to cancel the Boston performances of the musical revue scheduled for July 12 – August 5 2006.   Krebs explains "We regret having to make this decision but members of our essential creative team became recently unavailable and mounting this run without them would jeopardize the quality of the production.”

"A good walk spoiled," is how Mark Twain described the game of golf. Exasperating for some, exciting for others, the world of golf is revealed in song and comic sketches in the new musical revue GOLF: The Musical.

GOLF: The Musical celebrates the fun, frustration and elation of this popular sport.

Golf has grown in the past decade as a leading leisure pastime and professional sport enjoyed by 35 million Americans and hundreds of millions of pro and amateur players worldwide. Its popularity can be seen in the creation of the Golf Channel on television, a plethora of magazines promoting the sport, pro shops and driving ranges cropping up in both tony neighborhoods and shopping malls across the country, and more youngsters taking a swing at the ball than ever before.

GOLF: The Musical comes to Boston after a New York run at the John Houseman Theater Center on 42nd Street, where it garnered several awards and nominations including the Drama Desk Award nomination of Joel Blum for Outstanding Featured Actor.  The musical's book, lyrics and music are by Michael Roberts, based on a concept by Eric Krebs.  The Off-Broadway show featured musical direction and arrangements by Ken Lundie, set design by James Joughin, costumes by Bernard Grenier and lighting design by Aaron Spivey. The production was directed by Christopher Scott and featured Joel Blum, Trisha Rapier, Christopher Sutton and Sal Viviano. Brenda Arko was the stage manager.  Click for more cast and artistic information
