Soprano Larissa YUDINA
The gifted, young Russian
soprano born in Perm has been a principal soloist with the Mariinsky Theatre
(Kirov Opera) of St. Petersburg since 1998 where she performs roles in
the lyric coloratura and dramatic coloratura repertoire. Ms. Yudina
has performed leading coloratura roles in operas on tour in central Europe
and Canada with the Mariinsky Theatre to outstanding critical acclaim under
the direction of Maestro Valery Gerguiev. Ms Yudina was a winner
in the III and IV International Rimsky-Korsakov Vocalists Competition and
the International Diaghilev Young Opera Singers’ Competition.
LUCIA (Saturday)
Soprano Svetlana TRIFONOVA
The Russian soprano born
in Kalinsgrad graduated from Moscow Conservatory. She was a soloist
with Opera Bolshoi from 1997 to 2000. Since 2001 she has been a principal
soloist with the Mariinsky Theatre, Kirov Opera, St. Petersburg.
Her repertoire includes all of the most famous coloratura roles for soprano.
She has performed as a guest artist in opera productions in Great Britain,
China, Austria, Germany and Holland and is making her US debut as Lucia
with Teatro Lirico D’Europa.
EDGARDO
Tenor Evgeni AKIMOV
The Russian tenor was born
in St. Petersburg and graduated from the Rimsky Korsakov Conservatory of
Music in 1991. He won top prize in the first International Vocal
Competition in St. Petersburg in 1994 and is currently a member of the
Mariinsky Theatre, Kirov Opera. He has appeared with them on tour
world wide including performances at the New York Metropolitan Opera, Covent
Garden and San Francisco Opera. Most recently he performed abroad
at the Teatro Regio in Torino, Italy. He performed with Teatro Lirico
for the first time on their winter 2005 tour as Rodolfo in LA BOHEME to
outstanding acclaim. He tours with Teatro Lirico in winter 2006 as
Rodolfo in LA BOHEME and Edgardo in LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR.
ALISA
Mezzo soprano Viara ZHELEZOVA
The young Bulgarian mezzo
soprano graduated from the National Conservatory of Music in 1985 and joined
the roster of the Bulgarian National Opera, where she has performed leading
mezzo soprano roles alongside such singers as Ghena Dimitrova, Nicolai
Giuselev, Anna Tomova Sintova and others. She has appeared as a guest
artist with opera companies throughout Eastern Europe and has been a principal
soloist with Teatro Lirico D’Europa since 1992. She has enjoyed a
huge success with Teatro Lirico on tour in the US as Rosina in IL BARBIERE
DI SIVIGLIA and with the Czech Opera Prague as Prince Orlofsky.
NORMANNO
Tenor Arseni ARSOV
The Bulgarian tenor is a
graduate of the Sofia Conservatory of Music. He has performed with
opera companies in Bulgaria and Eastern Europe for over 20 years.
He has been a guest artist with Teatro Lirico D’Europa on tour worldwide
since 1990.
ARTURO
Tenor Yuri NIKOLOV
The Bulgarian tenor has
performed with Teatro Lirico D’Europa for several seasons in different
comprimario roles. He graduated from the National Conservatory in
Bulgaria and performs with the State Opera of Varna.
ENRICO
Baritone Vladimir SAMSONOV
The young baritone was born
in the capital city of Moldova, Kishnev. In 1991 he graduated from
the St. Petersburg Conservatory and was invited to join the St. Petersburg
Musical Theatre. In 1994 he joined the roster of the Mariinsky Theatre
where he debuted as Count Almaviva in Mozart’s LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, a role
that he was also invited to perform at the Bolshoi Opera in 1995.
Mr. Samsonov has visited over 30 countries on tour with the Mariinsky Theatre
and Kazan Opera. He won the Grand Prix in the 1994 Mario del Monaco
International Opera Competition in Marsala, Italy, and the 1996 Grand Prix
of the International Television Festival “Petersburg Engagement.”
Mr. Samsonov is performing with Teatro Lirico on tour in the US for the
2nd winter in a row. Last season he enjoyed a huge success with Teatro
Lirico as Figaro in IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA.
RAIMONDO
Basso Viacheslav POCHAPSKY
The Russian basso who graduated
from the Gnessin Musical Academy in 1984, is currently a principal soloist
of the Opera Bolshoi. He has performed with major opera houses in
Milan, Genoa, Berlin, Stuttgart, Dresden, Gera, Chemnitz, Glasgow, Edinburgh,
London, Budapest, Tokyo, Seoul, Graz, and Trieste, and made his US debut
in the title role of Mussorgsky’s BORIS GODOUNOV with Teatro Lirico D’Europa
in winter 2003 to outstanding acclaim. Other roles with Teatro Lirico
include Don Basilio in BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA, Colline in LA BOHEME and the
role of Commendatore in DON GIOVANNI.
CONDUCTOR
Krassimir TOPOLOV
The Bulgarian maestro who
was educated in Vienna, Austria has been the principal conductor for Teatro
Lirico D’Europa since 1995. In addition to conducting hundreds of
performances for the company on tour in central Europe, he has conducted
all American tours for the company. He is a guest conductor with
opera companies in Bulgaria and other Eastern European opera countries.
STAGE DIRECTOR
Giorgio LALOV
Giorgio Lalov is the artistic
director of Teatro Lirico D’Europa, the European Opera company that has
completed 3,000 performances world wide and seven major US tours since
1988. He studied at the Young Artists School of La Scala, Milan,
and made his debut there at the age of 25. He has staged hundreds
of operas worldwide since 1986 and makes his home in the US. Mr.
Lalov speaks a number of European languages fluently and is able to stage
his multi-national cast productions without the use of a translator.

but this 19th century Italian composer
has written more than 70 comedies, tragedies, and sacred and instrumental
music.
