EVGENI AKIMOV as Edgardo
"Soprano Larissa Yudina had
a particular miraculous effect, singing in a bright tremulous coloratura
that at times was difficult to recognize as the result of human effort.
The creamy coldness of her tone seemed exactly right..." -- The
Globe & Mail (Canadian National Newspaper) -- Robert Everett-Green
reviewing Toronto Symphony Orchestra performance of "The Nightingale,"
March 2005
"Tenor Evgeni Akimov literally
went thermonuclear with a performance that was nothing short of - well
- thermonuclear. Mr. Akimov has a set of lungs that can explode and fill
a hall and leave an audience gasping." -- OPERA

Lucia of Lammermoor, still
grieving the recent death of her mother, is driven to madness and murder
when her selfish brother arranges for her to marry a man she does not love.
Based on Sir Walter Scott's historical novel The Bride Of Lammermoor,
this fascinating Gothic story with supernatural overtones takes place in
17th century Scotland.
The opera is full of beautiful,
bel canto arias for coloratura soprano; in the 1960s it sky-rocketed soprano
Joan Sutherland to stardom. A traditional version in Italian
with English super titles.
