Opera by Giacomo Puccini

LA BOHEME takes place in Paris around 1830. It tells the story of struggling young artists. Rodolfo the poet falls in love with Mimi who makes artificial flowers, and Marcello the painter has fallen in love with Musetta, an opera singer and "lady of the evening."  Rodolfo and Mimi have a short period of happiness but separate because he worries their poverty will worsen her tuberculosis and he is jealous of her flirtations. Some months later, Mimi is very ill and returns to the home Rodolfo shares with other artists. She is brought to the attic where the 2 reminisce about their first days together. She dies quietly.

About This Production...

Teatro Lirico D’Europa, the European opera touring company formed in 1988 by Giorgio Lalov, a former opera singer, has completed over 3,000 performances worldwide, including 7 major US tours.  Teatro Lirico D’Europa tours the US in fall 2005 and winter 2006 with several full scale operas including Puccini’s LA BOHEME.

It will be the 2nd US tour for the popular production that won outstanding critical acclaim on the winter 2005 US tour (click to read the reviews) and it will be Teatro Lirico D’Europa’s 8th Major US tour and largest US tour to date with 90 performances.

The company travels with a symphonic orchestra, a large chorus of trained singers.  Soloists for the productions are chosen from auditions held in major cities around the world including New York.  The international artists are all mature, seasoned professionals.

Sets and costumes for the tour are designed and created in Europe and shipped to the US in containers.  A great deal of planning and preparation goes into making sure the sets arrive on time to pass security inspections at several different points along the journey.

All productions feature English super titles.
