| Join the 150-voice Boston
Gay Men’s Chorus -- plus a guest orchestra, professional dance
troupe, and the Voices Rising women’s chorus -- for a dynamic,
multi-sensory concert of uplifting and beautiful music.
The featured work on the
program is “Metamorphosis” by Robert Seeley and Robert Espindola.
Written by the same composer as BGMC's signature song “Marry Us,” “Metamorphosis”
is a stunningly gorgeous work that follows a young man’s journey from early
childhood to young adulthood and his first love. Torn between the
expectations of his family and his true identity, he comes out, learns
self acceptance, and reconciles with his family.
“Metamorphosis” is performed
by the full chorus, plus a 25 piece orchestra, and a contemporary dance
troupe. The program also includes “A Love that Will Never Grow Old,” the
Golden Globe award-winning song from the movie Brokeback Mountain
and beautiful songs by Stephen Foster such as “Beautiful Dreamer.”
The first half of the program will also feature music by Voices Rising,
Boston’s newest women’s chorus.
Written in an emotionally
powerful and directly accessible style, the eight movement “Metamorphosis”
gives voice to the real stories, struggles, and triumphs of gay men and
their families. Join the 150 men of the BGMC for an inspirational
journey of growing up, coming out, and living life. |
